I’ve been away from my computer to be able to update, but I officially launched “Zero Days Without a Star Wars Reference” this week. The first full episode is up. I discuss Kurosawa, The Hidden Fortress, and get into recommendations and what pop culture I’m currently consuming.
I was first exposed to the films of Akira Kurosawa because of his influence on George Lucas and Star Wars. Needless to say, they had a lot to live up to, and they more than met and exceeded expectations. Seven Samurai may be my favorite. It is probably his most complete and iconic work to me. And in film school, I was shown in quick succession everything from Rashomon to Dreams. And one film I failed to mention on the podcast is Ran, which is one of Kurosawa’s later movie, which is a brilliant adaptation of King Lear.
What I’m consuming:
• Books: Washington by Ron Chernow
• TV: The West Wing
• Seven Samurai
• The Making of Star Wars by J.W. Rinzler
