Long Scripts, Short Novels
Greetings! I told you I would be gone for a while. It was a busy summer and then some. I have been updating Vincent and continue to make progress on it, and I spent much of my time working out a rather long rough draft of a new script. When I say “rather long” I mean 176 pages. So, no one will be reading that draft or any draft until I get it down to a reasonable length, which should be with this next draft. I’m making some good headway on it.
For my birthday, I got a new external hard drive, which means I have some room to load all of my video files on without killing my laptop. This has given me the opportunity to store all of my old NYU films, which means I’ll be able to burn them onto a better storage format like DVD rather than the old VHS taps that have been sitting on my shelves for years. I have also started loading them onto the website here for your viewing pleasure.
At the moment, The Scottish Play is up, as well as a music video I did for The Nocturnal Ceremony Band, a fan favorite band from Cherry Creek High School. Oddly enough, it doesn’t feature band members Drew Morgan, Jen Kelley, and Adam Pierce because I made it as a film school project in New York while they were still back in Denver. Instead, it features Andy Shulkind and Melissa Tackling, who were classmates of mine at NYU and were part of the crew for the project. I’m really only putting the video up on the website because “This Town” is a fun song. On a side note, Mr. Shulkind has become a pretty successful cinematographer. You can check out his website here
Curtain will not yet be going up on the site as I am still going through the motions of getting it into festivals, though it is sure to make an appearance eventually.
November is National Novel Writing Month. As a result, I am taking up the challenge from the community at NaNoWriMo, and starting on November 1st, I will plunge into writing a “short” 50,000-word novel by November 30th. It should be fun.
Also, I wanted to give a plug for my friend Veronique Ory, who is staring in Sam Shepard’s play “A Lie of the Mind” openning this weekend at The Complex in Hollywood. You can find out more about it and reserve tickets on the Athena Theatre website. For those of you in the Los Angeles area, please check it out.
