Update Update
As any of you who even bother coming here any more may have noticed, it has been about six months since I have updated my blog (to say nothing of updating the website). Well the reasons for such are three-fold:
1) I have spend most of my time on Samuel Jinx, which has come a very long way in these short few months.
2) I have not had the creative energy (again because of my exhaustive work on the aforementioned Jinx) to organize my thoughts properly to the web format.
3) Quite frankly, I kinda forgot about it.
So, yeah, basically one good, creatively driven excuse followed by one copout and one brain suckage (which is kind of a copout, but it’s true).
At the very least, I thought it would be prudent to give a little update as to what is going on in my life in relation to previous blogs:
- I finished my NaNoWriMo novel with time to spare. It was more of an exorcise than a serious effort to complete a full-on novel than last year’s, but it did provide plenty of character development to the world I’m creating in Samuel Jinx.
- My cat Dylan (whom I must post pictures on soon) has gotten big, and he’s still as fun and energetic as ever. He also insists on waking me up at 7 am sharp Saturday and Sunday despite my repeated protests that they are ”sleep in days.”
- Samuel Jinx, as noted above, has been going swimmingly, and it only fleetingly resembles the original draft I had a year ago. (I’m not including my epic 176 rough draft in this discussion) This is mostly due to the awesome work and advice of Mr. Joe Bratcher and everyone in the workshop.
I really don’t have the time or space to cover all the other news that’s happened in the past six months, but I’ll just say two things based on previous posts (in case you were wondering). I was very sad to hear Robert Altman passed away back in November, both because he was such a genius and because I’ll never got to meet the fine man. Also, I was very jazzed when Martin Scorsese finally won his Oscar. Okay, I know everyone keeps saying The Departed wasn’t his best film, but seriously, we’re talking about a guy who has directed pantheon level films. How do you compete? Plus, the man can really do no wrong in my eyes, but that’s my predjudice.
Well, that’s all the news that’s fit to print. More updates to come…
